Select Your Individual Dining Plan
As a student at Metro University, you’ll have access to some of the best campus food in the country with an incredible variety of healthy and delicious options. We operate 47 venues at 10 dining centers and two food trucks; we’re serving meals 18 hours each day.
Unlike other universities, Metro University’s dining plans don’t provide a fixed number of meals per week but work like a debit card. Every purchase is deducted from your balance, which can be easily checked online or on the Nutrislice App as well as at the register in a dining center.
Individual dining plans are to be purchased by individuals, for individuals. You may, on occasion, take a guest to join you for a meal; however, buying a dining plan to be used collectively by more than one individual, or used to pay for other individual's meals on a recurring basis, is a conduct violation and will be dealt with accordingly.
*Off-campus students without a current plan can add one at any time

Purchasing a Dining Plan
When choosing a plan, it’s important to consider where you’ll be living and how often you’ll be eating in our dining centers. For example, if you think you’ll eat off-campus each weekend or have a quick breakfast in your room every morning, those decisions will affect which dining plan is the best match for your lifestyle.
First, where you’ll be living will determine which dining plans are available to you.
Dining Plans and On-Campus Life
Choosing the right dining plan is all about finding what best suits your lifestyle and schedule on campus. Start by considering your eating habits: Are you someone who likes to have three meals a day in the dining center, or do you often grab breakfast in your room? If you plan to eat out or make your own meals occasionally, a smaller plan might be more cost-effective.
Think about your residence hall requirements, as some halls have specific dining plan options for on-campus students. Also, check the dining center locations relative to your classes and dorm to make sure you’re selecting a plan that works with your daily routine. Balancing your preferences with meal plan flexibility can help you make the most of your dining experience on campus!
On-Campus Convenience for Off-Campus Students
Selecting a dining plan as an off-campus student means choosing one that complements your lifestyle and schedule. Consider how often you’ll be on campus each week and if you prefer the convenience of dining center meals between classes. If you plan to cook at home frequently or eat out on weekends, a smaller meal plan might suit your needs best.
Look at the dining center locations relative to where you spend most of your time on campus. Flexibility is key, so choosing a plan with options that match your on-campus routine will help you get the most value and convenience from your dining experience.

Dining Services offers four Flex Dining Plans: Minor, Major, Mega, and Premium. Students living on-campus are required to purchase either the Major, Mega, or Premium Flex Dining Plans. (Note: The funds in Flex Dining Plan are called Flex Dollars, which are a different dining option than Dining Dollars, which are explained below.)
Included in the price of each Flex Plan is a base cost that covers the utilities, maintenance, repairs, and labor for our dining centers. For the Major, Mega, and Premium Flex plans, the base cost is $1,784.50. For the Minor Flex plan, the base cost is $892. The remaining balance, called Flex Dollars, can be used at our dining centers and receive a discount on each purchase. Flex Plans get a 67 percent discount at D2, an all-you-care-to-eat venue in Dietrick Hall, and 50 percent off the cash price at all other venues.
The prices for each plan are as follows:
Minor Flex Plan - $1,486 per semester with 594 flex dollars
Major Flex Plan - $2,796 per semester with $1,012 flex dollars
Premium Flex Plan - $3,209 per semester with $1,425 flex dollars
*Minor Flex Plans are only available to students living off-campus.
Special Note: Amounts subject to change due to final budget approval from the State.
If you will be living on campus, you will automatically be signed up for the Major Flex Plan. If you think you’ll be eating on campus more often, you can upgrade to the Mega or Premium Flex plans using StarRez.
Unused Flex Dollars will roll from the fall to spring with the purchase of a spring dining plan. Unused Flex Dollars at the end of the spring semester can’t be refunded or transferred to the next fall, so it’s important to purchase a plan that best meets your needs.
Students can also make deposits to Flex Additions to supplement their Major, Mega, or Premium Flex Plans. Flex Additions deposits of up to $1,500 per semester are permitted. Flex Additions receive the same discounts as the starting balance of Flex Dollars. Flex Additions cannot be added to Minor Flex Plans. Minor Flex plan holders can only deposit Dining Dollars and are not eligible for Flex Additions. (Unlike the starting balance of a Flex Dining Plan, unspent Flex Additions can be used the following semester with the purchase of a Major, Mega, or Premium Flex dining plan. Without a Major, Mega, or Premium Flex dining plan purchase, the funds would revert to Dining Dollars and roll from semester to semester until graduation.)
Students can use their dining plans at any of the 56 venues and two food trucks on campus, but as an example, here’s how many meals you can eat a week with each Flex plan at D2, an all-you-care-to-eat venue in Dietrick Hall:
Major Flex Plan about 10 meals per week
Mega Flex Plan about 12 meals per week
Premium Flex Plan about 14 meals per week
Students with a Flex Plan for the fall semester will automatically be assigned and billed for the same dining plan for the spring semester.
Metro University Dining offers four Dining Dollars Plans designed to provide flexibility and convenience for students: Light, Standard, Plus, and Premium. These plans work like a prepaid debit card for campus dining, allowing students to make purchases at dining centers, cafes, and convenience stores across campus. Dining Dollars differ from the required meal plan funds and are open to both on-campus and off-campus students for added flexibility.
Each plan includes a base cost that helps cover dining center operations, including maintenance, utilities, and staffing. For the Standard, Plus, and Premium plans, the base cost is $1,500. For the Light plan, the base cost is $750. The remaining balance is the Dining Dollars amount, which can be spent across all participating venues with discounts ranging from 20% to 50% on purchases at designated dining centers.
The prices for each plan are as follows:
Light Dining Dollars Plan - $1,200 per semester
Standard Dining Dollars Plan - $2,000 per semester
Plus Dining Dollars Plan - $2,500 per semester
Premium Dining Dollars Plan - $3,000 per semester
*Note: On-campus students are automatically enrolled in the Standard Dining Dollars Plan, with options to upgrade if they expect to eat more frequently on campus.
Unused Dining Dollars will roll over from the fall to the spring semester with the purchase of a spring dining plan. However, any remaining balance at the end of the spring semester will not carry over to the following fall, so selecting a plan that suits your dining habits is essential.
Additional funds can be added to any Dining Dollars Plan up to $1,000 per semester through our campus portal or app, providing the same dining discounts. Unlike base plan Dining Dollars, these additions will roll over each semester until graduation, giving students the flexibility to top up as needed throughout the year.
With Dining Dollars, students can access all 48 on-campus dining venues, including popular all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, grab-and-go cafes, and food trucks, making it easy to stay fueled wherever they are on campus.
The Commuter Cash Program is designed specifically for students living off campus who want the flexibility to purchase meals, snacks, and beverages at any campus dining location without a traditional meal plan. Commuter Cash works like a prepaid card, allowing students to load funds that can be spent across dining centers, cafes, and campus food trucks.
Commuter Cash provides an additional 10% discount on every purchase, making it an affordable way for commuter students to enjoy the convenience of on-campus dining. Students can add funds in increments of $50, $100, or $200 through the Metro University dining portal or mobile app, and these funds roll over each semester until graduation.
With Commuter Cash, students have easy access to all campus eateries, from all-you-care-to-eat dining halls to grab-and-go spots, ensuring they stay fueled and connected to campus life even when living off campus.

Plans Policies, and Refunds
Metro University Dining offers flexible dining plan policies to accommodate students' needs. Students can upgrade or downgrade their meal plans within the first two weeks of the semester by contacting the dining services office. Cancellations are permitted under specific circumstances, such as withdrawing from the university, moving off-campus, or documented medical conditions, and must be requested in writing.
Refunds for canceled plans follow a prorated policy based on the time of cancellation within the semester, minus any used funds. If a refund is issued, it may take up to two weeks to process. Please note that unused meals do not roll over to the next semester, so we encourage students to choose a plan that aligns with their anticipated needs. For more details, students can contact Metro University Dining for assistance.
